A GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali is a heavy-duty truck. If you tell a dealer you want a 'Denali,' you haven't told them whether you need to pull a trailer or an excavator. 'Mustang truck' is even more of a red flag. Ford doesn't sell a factory truck called the Mustang; the Mustang is a car. On the truck side, the FMVSS payload placard is the legal spec sheet, but it doesn't tell you ride quality, brake feel, or whether the cab fits the crew.

Use specs as a starting line, not a weapon. For a compactor, compare official datasheets, then ask for a compaction trial on the actual material. For a truck, check the door sticker, then drive it. The best decisions combine measurable specifications with the judgment of people who have run the equipment.

Final checklist

If you're shopping for Hamm equipment, search for the exact model and open the official Hamm datasheet. If someone says '2210,' ask for the rest of the designation. If someone asks 'what is a half ton truck?' explain the class name, then point to the payload placard. If you hear 'Denali truck' or 'Mustang truck,' ask to see the VIN and the build sheet. Take it from someone who reviews 200 spec packages a year: names are for conversations; spec sheets are for contracts. And I'd rather spend ten minutes explaining that now than untangle the order later.
